The Ministry

So, if you go into the Ministry of Paranormal Research & Defence building and, upon entering through the front door, turn left and, just next to the potted plants, you'll see a gift shop. It has everything you'll ever need to proclaim where you stand in the war between humans and vampires.

You can get Jack's shirt from PAGAN, Marie's shirt from CRUSADER, and even a bear.

Actually, this could just be a tremendously self-indulgent act. See, I collect shot glasses and it recently occurred to me that, having bought the Hunter shot glass, I could change the design... over and over... and just keep making MPRD shot glasses for my own collection.

'Tis The Season

Well, it's been a hectic couple o' weeks. We moved house, a process that was way harder and took way longer than any two people should have to endure. Still, we're firmly ensconced in our new home. Settling - if not settled - in, just in time for Christmas.

Thus far this year I've been spared much of the "war on Christmas" claptrap, thanks to the fact that I've had neither the time nor inclination to watch The Never Ending Torrent Of Complete And Utter Bullshit That Is FAUX News, however, I did notice one of our greatest and most prolific anti-Christmas warriors firing a beautiful salvo. Yep, that world-renown secular progressive, the Archbishop Of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, says that the traditional Christmas story - the manger, star, wise men, blah, blah, blah - is only "a legend".

Thanks to the Hippy, here is a lil' Xmas video, and a lil' Xmas song. Don't blame me, I'm just passin' 'em on.

Have a very merry Christmas, Mythmas, Solstice, December 25th, Whatever You're Doing, and don't drink and drive - you'll spill it all over your trousers.

Our Lord, Who Art In London..

From our You Cannot Make This Shit Up desk comes the story that HRH Prince Phillip is God.

So HRH Prince Charles is Jesus, right?

Hat tip to Simon.

Battlewagon Bits

Thanks to TSOALR, I have discovered This World's Greatest Retail Website. It's called Battlewagon Bits, and is worth a look.

As the name suggests, they sell GW bitz, so if you're looking for that one, special bit to finish off that luxurious conversion, or just something to glue to the side of your latest tank to make it look that little bit more spiffy, BWBits is for you. Their prices are outstanding too, as is their "Bits trade-in" scheme, whereby you can send them your discarded crap and earn credit to use in the store.

Whilst we're on the subject, I must give a quick bundle of kudos to the guys at TSOALR for their touching tribute to the fallen at Virginia Tech. Simple, yet beautiful.

Quackwatch

Playing "follow the link" from Daylight Atheism, led me to stopsylviabrowne.com (see yesterday's post), which led me to another great site today, called Quackwatch.

Quackwatch is a site dedicated to keeping track of and fighting against pseudo-science, especially in the area of medical pseudo-science. It has a 152-member scientific and technical advisory board, and a 28-member strong legal advisory board. It features a health fraud discussion board and many, many articles dedicated to spotting, avoiding and countering "snake oil" salesmen.

The site has also received numerous awards, to which I would add the Legal Alien "You Must Read This Site" Award.

Daylight Atheism

Daylight Atheism is an excellent blog. Well written, well thought-out, very thought-provoking.

And, for those interested, it led me to stopsylviabrowne.com, a very informative site about one of America's most popular "psychics".

safenow.org

safenow.org is a hilarious site that takes icons from the US Department of Homeland Security's "be informed" leaflets and assigns them - ah - different meanings from those intended.

This is so wrong..

This is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for this. Badwrong. Or badong*.

Bad.

Wrong.

Hilarious.

NSFW

Hat tip to 3vil g3nius for this bad, wrong and hilarious link.

*there may be a small prize for anyone who can spot where this is from. And then again, maybe not.

E.A.C.

Via tain at AP comes a link to the Evil Atheist Conspiracy, and, via the E.A.C., comes a link to George Carlin's website, and, via George Carlin's website, comes a link to a funny and insightful mp3 of Carlin talking about the Ten Commandments.

Clear? Good.

Random rambling

I missed posting last night because the stupid computer ate the post I was nearly finished writing.

I'm wiped tonight, so I'll re-post it at some time in the future.

Today involved me baking an apple pie, and act which, were it not preceded by the use of a power tool, might have resulted in my man licence being revoked.

The new season of American Idol has started. I'm not watching. Honest.

And, to round things off, here is a linky to one of my favourite blogs, the LITTLE things, and 3vil g3nius' hilarious post about wierd domain names.

G'night.

BBC review of the year

Okay, in preparation for something which may or may not get published here tomorrow, in which you may or may not get to read Doombreed's Review of 2006, which may or may not be a humourous take on 2006's most prominent events (I may or may not review 2005, just to mess with you), here is Auntie Beeb's list of news.BBC.com's most popular stories of 2006.

Watch out for the goat wedding. That's the high point.

281 Tricks To Irritate An Atheist

This utterly hilarious post lists off 281 (yes, I know the bit about the bottom of the list - it's a joke) ways to irritate an atheist. And, yes, in my years as a freethinker, I've encountered many of these in one setting or another.

Fundies Say The Darndest Things!

By far the funniest (and, in some cases, the most worrying) website I've read in a long time, Fundies Say The Darndest Things is a collections of wierd and wacky posts that have been made in various discussions around the 'net.

By far, the best is by a user called JohnR7 on the Christian Forums who said "I can sum it all up in three words: Evolution is a lie."

Extreme Pumpkin Carving

Extreme Pumpkins.com - Pumpkin Carving at its wildest!

At what point did the carving of pumpkins turn into a "cute" event? When did boys stop carving and moms start? Where did we lose touch with one of the years coolest events?

Today we will seize back this ritual. Today is the day we throw away those safe, cute carving tools. Today. We will buy a big, ugly, pumpkin so large one man cannot lift or move it. Today. We will carve that sumbitch into something ugly and plop it on the front porch. Ocrober 31st we will light it brightly enough to give visting children suntans.

Pumpkin carving is reborn.

Welcome to ExtremePumpkins.com where strange pumpkins, pumpkin patterns, and alternative pumpkin carving techniques are developed and demonstrated for you. Pumpkin carving will never be the same.
