When you see a potted plant, you check to see how you feel.
The sound of a dog's claws on tile makes your right index finger twitch.
When out after dark, the sight of moonlight glinting off of broken glass causes you to turn and take two steps before you realise what you're doing.
You get a quiet, nagging urge to reload before opening doors.
The sight of a parked police car gives you a surge of hope.
You think typewriters are for the weak, but still make a mental note of where you saw one.
A broom leaning against a neighbour's wall looks like it might be handy in a tight spot.
You peer into alleyways to see if there's anything useful lying around.
You understand what all of the above mean.
And number 1:
You suddenly remember that it's been a few days since you last blogged, and when you check, it's been more like three weeks...

Blogger Play
Blogger has a new feature, where you can sit and watch the pictures that are currently being uploaded.
It's called Blogger Play and it's strangely compelling. Be careful, though. There's no filter and sometimes people post pictures that are a little.. ah.. near the knuckle..

Oh no they didn't...
More proof, as if that were needed, that Australians are completely and utterly barking mad, whilst, at the same time, have balls of steel, emerged today.
Via AMERICAblog to Crooks and Liars comes the story of how a bunch of Australian comediens waltzed through the security surrounding US President George Bush - which costs AU$1million per hour - with one of their number dressed like Osama bin Laden:
The comedians, from a show called The Chaser's War On Everything take an honest Aussie's dislike for everything in authority and take it to the max:
Yes. The story is worrying. It is worrying that a AU$1million per hour security force could be that piss-poor. Don't lose sight of that.
And, notice the pattern. The government ends up with egg on its face, but the comedians end up in jail.

I haven't posted in a few days, what with both Mrs Doombreed and I working so bloody hard. Still, I thought I'd better pop my hear around the door and say hi.
Atheist Revolution has the latest Carnival Of The Godless. So I have some reading to do.

Catching Up
For one reason or another, I haven't blogged for a few days, so we'll call this a catchup post and hope nobody notices (or cares).
Adam Finley over at TV Squad linked to my entry about the ATHFCMFFT shown on [adult swim] the other night. Over two hundred people clicked through and visited. This means that I'd had more visitors by the 3rd than I average in most months, so everyone can take the next few weeks off. Also linking was Seth at Mostly Muppet Dot Com, so cheers, guys.
For more on ATHFCMFFT, check out KingColon.com, the official site for the movie. It not only has the trailers, but also the aptly named "worst game ever", and the opportunity to send a personalised message from one of the ATHF characters to your friends (HINT: Pick Carl, and type in a hobby rather than picking one from the list. It's hilarious.). Best of all is the music video, which has Meatwad performing The Planet's Best Guitar Solo Ever In The History Of Everything, Ever, I'm Not Kidding, Seriously, Trust Me On This.
And, finally, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters comes out on the 13th.
Go.
See.
It.
P.s. You can preorder the soundtrack album, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters Colon The Soundtrack (ATHFCMFFTCTS) at Amazon right now. Or just click the "soundtrack" link on KingColon.com and listen to a bangin' sample.

SpongeBob's Kidnapper In Court
For those who have been following the story of SpongeBob, the rare Bolivian monkey who was stolen from Chessington World Of Adventures in England, one Marlon Brown, 23, has been charged with the theft and is undergoing trial at Kingston Crown Court.
Unfortunately, the BBC reports, SpongeBob has been rejected by the other monkeys at Chessington and has been given a temporary home at Battersea Zoo.
And now for the "aww" factor:
Staff at Chessington have started "SpongeBob the Squirrel Monkey's Blog"(or SpongeBlog, as it's called), which allows him (ahem) to update interested parties with his progress.
Keep us updated, little fella.

"Hi, my name is SpongeBob the Squirrel Monkey. I used to live in the Zoo at Chessington World of Adventures and you may have heard about me as I am the little fella who was stolen from the Zoo on the 17 July. Someone broke in and took me away from my friends and my home - can you believe it?
Although they managed to find me again and I came back to Chessington, I have now had to move to another Zoo as the other monkeys didn't want me back with them! It's been a bit of an adventure, so I thought I'd tell you about it all in my SpongeBlog. Check back often to learn about all my experiences and how I am settling in in Battersea Park Zoo."
Keep us updated, little fella.

Olio
Yesterday's entry attracted a comment, my first for a while, from Lee, who had found me via Atheism Online.
Which was nice.
Lee's blog is called Olio, and is worth a read. And, as a bonus, one of the thing I like to do upon seeing a blog for the first time is to rummage through the links list and see what's there. Olio has a large links list. This could take a while.
Meanwhile, read the blog. Enjoy.

The World Accoring To Fundy
thecdn over at AP brought a series of blog posts to our attention recently.
The first is Morality Clauses, EC, and broken condoms over at Den Of The Biting Beaver. It is a very disturbing portrait of one woman's attempt to find a place that would dispense emergency contraception (EC) in George W. Bush's America.
The second post is a follow-up to the original, called The hiatus will start after this post *smile* and is an accounting of what happened with her search and, more importantly, how she has been treated.
Some of the emails she's received are truly horrific.
But hey, God is love and all that jazz.

Folks, the condom broke Friday night and I searched all weekend for someone who could prescribe me EC. It is now Monday and I have to report that I have been unable to find anyone who will write me a fucking prescription for EC. None of the hospitals in the surrounding counties would write it for me. I stopped my search at about 100 miles from my home because my telephone book wouldn't take me out any further than that.
I have been asked about my sexual practices. Whether I'm 'monogamous' or 'in a relationship' if I'm married, if I have kids, how many kids I have, if I was raped or 'traumatized' but there wasn’t' ONE question about my health. Not one. The few places that said that they had a doctor who would occasionally write prescriptions for EC told me that I had to ask for that doctor specifically and then they proceeded to tell me that I would be 'interviewed' to see if I meet that doctors 'criteria' and then they proceeded to ask me all the above questions before telling me that I should 'try anyway' and I 'might be able to talk him into it'.

Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager
Some time ago, I linked to a blog called "My Boring Best" (and, in an unforgivable oversight, forgot to add said blog to my blogroll), concerning a post about "Jimmigration".
Well, Jim has done it again, this time with a link to a hilarious short called "Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager"
Stop whatever you are doing, click that link, and go watch it.
Go.

A year of being Legal
One year ago to the day, I posted this.
Yep, that's right. My blog is, today, one year old. One year of my peculiar brand of wierdness going out into the world. One year of jokes, links, rants, pictures of rodents, new bits, old bits, funny stuff, and not-so-funny stuff.
I appear to have attracted a few regular readers. Certainly, a few of the same locations keep on popping up on the mapstats page.
That's right, Big Brother is alive, and his name is Doom.
I know that at least one would be one or other of my mates in England, who apparently miss me so much they need to check up on my blog for all the news.
Well, regular readers or not, I'd like to thank you for tuning in and wasting your time here. We know you have a choice when you waste time, so thank you for choosing us.
A big thanks to Shadow Blog, Englishman Turning American, Bligby, Diamond Geezer, and 3vil g3nius, all of whom either have me in their blogrolls or have linked to me for one reason or another.
Here's to many more years to come.

Gimme Your Stuff
Gimme Your Stuff is a fascinating blog about people from different countries swapping stuff with each other.
The lastest trade was between Japan and New Jersey, before that, England and Illinois. People just put stuff up for trade, virtually anything and everything. Okay, it's mostly candy, but there are some awesome trades like when Dave from Perth and Lisa from New York exchanged beers.
Can there be a higher calling for a website than the free and frank exchange of beer?
