South Park vs Scientology: Update

Tom Cruise, who was "in the closet" in the South Park episode "Trapped in the Closet" (the episode which caused Isaac Hayes to quit) has reportedly forced Comedy Central to refain from showing that episode again with threats of boycotting publicity events for the upcoming Mission Impossible III. For the record, a "spokesperson" for Cruise denies it, but Cruise is known to be one of Hollywood's most litigious actors.

UK audiences may never see the episode.

Okay, so now I have another reason not to watch MI III. The first two, for those interested, are that (a) the first two MI movies were crap, and (b) Tom Cruise is one of my least favourite actors.

Anyway, in a move which proves why Matt Stone and Trey Parker are awesome, they issued a statment to Daily Variety magazine which read:

"So, Scientology, you may have won this battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun!

“Temporarily anozinizing our episode will not stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies.

"Curses and drat! You have obstructed us now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu."

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants to the dark lord Xenu.

Fan-freaking-tastic.

The great thing about Cruise is that he never changes. He was annoying and smarmy in Top Gun and he is still annoying and smarmy. Hell, if they ever decide to do a made for TV movie "Tom Cruise: A life" they should hire him for the starring role as there just isn't anyone else around who does annoying and smarmy just as well. Then again, he's played himself in every other movie already so I guess there's no call for such a movie.
